The best spinning reels for trout fishing

When it comes to trout fishing, the spinning reel that you choose to employ is of the utmost importance. There are many things to look for that show that a reel is a quality spinning reel such as; the number of ball bearings, the line capacity of the spool, and whether or not the reel has anti "back play" technology, just to name a few. The best spinning reels for trout fishing have all of these items and below I will draw upon my twenty plus years of experience on the water to out;line a few of the best spinning reel choices on the market.

Are there choices available other than the ones being outlined here? Of course there are, but these reels have all served me well over the years and I'm sure would do the same for you. In my experience, there are two manufacturers that stand out above all the others when it comes to spinning reels that are being used for trout fishing:

Pflueger and Shimano . Every reel that I have owned that is manufactured by either of these companies has served me well, and I am confident that they will do the same for you.

  1. Pflueger President Spinning Reel - This trout fishing reel contains a 7 ball bearing system for an extremely smooth action. The President also features: instant anti-reverse; a multi disc drag system, and a machined-anodized-aluminum spool with line-protecting titanium-coated lip. This reel also holds 100-100 yards of four pound test line, which is the perfect amount for trout fishing. With prices ranging from $40-60 depending on where you shop, this spinning reel won't "break the bank" either.
  2. Shimano Sienna Spinning Reel - If you are in the market for a quality spinning reel for trout fishing and want to spend less than$40, the Shimano Sienna is the reel for you. This reel has high-end features and performance, like the Propulsion Line Management system for longer casts and reduced backlash, comes with four ball bearings and holds up to 140 yards of four pound test line. For the money, this Shimano is hard to beat when it comes to fishing for trout.

The bottom line is that both of these spinning reels are excellent choices when it comes to trout fishing, and either one will serve you well for many years of trout fishing. If these particular models don't work for you, stick with any of Pflueger or Shimano spinning reel and you should be good to go. Both of these manufactures produce some of the best spinning reels for trout fishing, there's no doubt about it.
